Chelsea defender nearly came to blows with Didier Drogba
David Luiz reveals Chelsea training ground bust-up with Didier Drogba
Chelsea defender David Luiz has revealed that he often argues with his team-mates during training, and once nearly came to blows with club legend Didier Drogba.
The 25-year-old Brazilian international arrived from Benfica in January 2011, and has certainly made his presence felt in west London, with a number of on-filed altercations.
Speaking to the Sunday People, Luiz revealed how he loves a good row, and was determined not to be intimidated by Chelsea's big-name players, like club captain John Terry, and Frank Lampard.
He insists his tenacity is not a bad thing, though, and adds that he's ready to roll his sleeves up in a bid to improve on the Stamford Bridge outfit's recent performances.
"I knew the responsibility of wearing the Chelsea shirt, but I kept it in my mind I would never be intimidated by the big names," said Luiz.
"Didier and I almost had a fight when he got angry after I challenged him during training.
"But having an argument is a good thing for the team and the players have to feel comfortable with that."
Luiz's next task will be to impress interim manager Rafael Benitez, who was appointed as Roberto Di Matteo's successor after Roman Abramovich sacked the Italian last week.
With Terry set to return to action in the next fortnight, the South American stopper will want to nail down his place at the heart of Chelsea's defence, ahead of fellow centre-backs Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic.
