Manchester United and Chelsea winger target Wilfried Zaha is not for sale in the January transfer window, according to a club insider.
The Sunday Mirror claims that the one-cap England international is at the top of Sir Alex Ferguson’s transfer wish list, whilst the Blues have also been monitoring the player’s recent progress at Crystal Palace.
However, an insider at Selhurst Park claims the club are not interested in selling the 20-year-old, with Zaha the man to spearhead the club’s challenge for promotion to the Premier League under new manager Ian Holloway.
“It would be easy to cash in on Wilfried in January, but the feeling at the club is that it would be a false economy. It is a case of giving it our best shot to win promotion – and that means keeping Wilfried at Selhurst Park,” the insider told the paper.
Zaha, who has been valued in the region of £20 million, impressed against Manchester United in the League Cup last season, and has been earning rave reviews for his performances in the Championship this term.
The Red Devils have a number of young England international at the club, and Zaha would join the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck if he were to move to Old Trafford in the future.
Despite the recent change in manager at Stamford Bridge, the report still claims that Chelsea are interested in Zaha.
Whether Rafa Benitez would indeed want to sign Zaha is surely unknown, but the decision now appears to be taken out of the interim Chelsea manager's hands.
