Arsenal prepare January bid for Everton star after Belgian bust-up

Published 8 Comments

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly ready to exploit a bust up at Everton to sign prolific striker Nikica Jelavic.

The Croatia international has fallen out with Toffees summer signing Kevin Mirallas and has now decided he wants to leave Goodison Park, according to The Express.

Wenger has been reported as having strikers high on his transfer wish list since the departure of Robin van Persie to Manchester United in the summer and the report suggests he is ready to add to his forward ranks in January.

New boy Olivier Giroud struggled to make an impact in his early days with Arsenal but has since found some good form, scoring five goals in his last six games for the Gunners.

However, the report says Wenger is still on the lookout for another front man as he has no viable option behind Giroud, a fact that was highlighted in the recent drab 0-0 draw with Aston Villa.

Jelavic has shown to be a shrewd signing from David Moyes since moving to Merseyside from troubled Scottish club Rangers in January.

The report now suggests he has had enough of Everton after falling out with Mirallas during the draw with Liverpool – reportedly clashing with the Belgian for being selfish on the ball.

Moyes will not want to lose the 27-year-old, as he provides a significant goal threat – he has struck five times already in the Premier League this season, as well as scoring nine times in 13 fixtures last season.
