Barcelona could move from Neymar to Llorente
Barcelona transfer news: Arsenal & Liverpool target Fernando Llorente wanted by Barcelona
Barcelona could reportedly drop their interest in Chelsea and Manchester United target Neymar in order to pursue a move for Fernando Llorente, who is reported to be attracting interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.
Llorente is out of contract with Athletic Bilbao at the end of the season, and has been linked with moves to both Arsenal and Liverpool, but Barcelona may now contest them in the race to sign the Spain striker.
Barcelona had reportedly been keen to sign Neymar from Santos but, according to Punto Pelota, the interest of the Camp Nou club in Llorente could extinguish any pursuit of the Brazilian star.
Barca directors are reported to be considering pulling out of the race to sign Neymar, perhaps leaving the door open for Chelsea and Manchester United, and Llorente has been identified as an alternative to the 20-year-old.
This week Llorente reinforced his desire to leave Athletic Bilbao when his contract expires in the summer, with Arsenal and Liverpool touted as potential destinations for the 27-year-old.
But Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers may struggle to persuade Llorente to join Arsenal or Liverpool on a free transfer should Barcelona formalise their interest in the forward.
Llorente will be free to begin negotiating pre-contracts with interested during the January transfer window, and the Athletic Bilbao star will surely have no shortage of would-be suitors.
