Arsenal transfer news: Gunners begin talks for Liverpool target Wilfried Zaha
Arsenal have reportedly entered into negotiations with Crystal Palace regarding the signing of Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United target Wilfried Zaha in the January transfer window.
Zaha has frequently been linked with a transfer to either Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United, but the Gunners appear to have made the early running the race to capture the England international.
Arsene Wenger revealed this week that Zaha was on his list of transfer targets for the January window and, according to Goal.com, Arsenal have begun talks with Crystal Palace.
Arsenal are reported to have indicated to Palace that they are prepared to pay an initial fee of £10 million upfront for Zaha, before paying a further £2 million in future add-ons.
Palace are reluctant to sell the 20-year-old before next summer and Wenger is reportedly keen to bring Zaha to the Emirates Stadium as quickly as possible.
Zaha, a boyhood Arsenal fan, has also could yet feasibly receive offers from Liverpool, Manchester City or Manchester United during the transfer window, although the Gunners appear to be in the driving seat.
The acquisition of Zaha could, perhaps, prompt Arsenal to cash-in on Theo Walcott, who has yet to agree a contract extension with the club.
Walcott's deal with Arsenal expires at the end of the season, and Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a move to bring the England international to Anfield.
