Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hinted he will be looking to La Liga in January as he attempts to strengthen his Gunners squad for the New Year.

Wenger heaped praise on Swansea manager Michael Laudrup in a press conference before Wenger's Arsenal face the Swans at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The Gunners manager spoke highly of Laudrup's moves in the Spanish market, singling out Michu and Pablo Hernandez as examples of excellent value for money, and in the process hinted at a possible January move for players in the Spanish top flight.

The Arsenal manager has been linked with a bid for Atletico Madrid striker Adrian, and Wenger is eager to take advantage of money troubles in Spain to pick up a cheap deal - the Gunners swooped for £12m playmaker Santi Cazorla in the summer as Malaga struggled with financial difficulties.

TalkSPORT reports Wenger said: "Michael Laudrup has bought well. I must say for someone who knows the Spanish market, it is maybe a good period to sign players because the clubs are in trouble financially and you can make bargains there."

Swansea travel to the Emirates Stadium this weekend, off the back of a superb 3-1 result at home to high-flying West Bromwich Albion.

And, ahead of the game, Wenger highlighted the work done so far by Laudrup, and reserved particular praise for former-Valencia winger Hernandez and ex-Rayo Vallecano forward Michu - both have adapted to the Premier League in impressive fashion.

"[Michu] stands out because he gets the goals, but Pablo Hernandez is a very creative player as well," Wenger said. "De Guzman is a complete midfielder, he can defend and attack."
