On-loan Chelsea starlet wants to extend spell
Chelsea news: Josh McEachran keen to extend stay at Middlesbrough
On-loan Chelsea youngster Josh McEachran has told Blues boss Rafael Benitez he's more than happy to finish the season at Middlesbrough.
The 19-year-old joined the Championship side at the beginning of the season, and has impressed Boro boss Tony Mowbray in his short stint at the Riverside Stadium.
Chelsea inserted a recall option into McEachran's loan deal, which finishes in May, but the Stamford Bridge midfielder is eager to stay in the north East and help Middlesbrough secure promotion to the Premier League.
The Daily Mirror reports McEachran said: "I've been at Chelsea since the age of seven and I've grown up there. It's always been my dream to play regular first-team football there.
"But at present, I'd like to stay here for the rest of the season. We've got a genuine chance of going up and I want to be part of it.
"There's a long way to go this season and a lot could happen but we have a really good manager here and I like the way he wants to play."
McEachran has been at Chelsea since he was eight years old, and the youngster made his debut for the club aged just 17.
But he's found first-team opportunities difficult to come by, and a short loan spell earlier this year at Swansea was followed by another stint away from Stamford Bridge at Middlesbrough.
The Chelsea starlet is highly-rated by the Blues academy staff, and has represented England at every youth age level from under-16 through the under-21.
