Manchester United will reportedly continue scouting Anderlecht youngster Dennis Praet in the lead up to the January transfer window, before considering a formal approach for the midfielder.
Praet has been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford for some time, and Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to have sent scouts to watch the 18-year-old in action on a number of occasions this season.
According to Metro, the Manchester United manager has been impressed by the feedback he has received from his scouting network, and will ensure they continue to keep an eye on Praet as the transfer window approaches.
Praet has scored three goals in 11 appearances since breaking into the Anderlecht first-team this season, and his fine form could yet lead to high-profile transfer to Old Trafford.
Manchester United, though, may need to formalise their interest sooner rather than later with Anderlecht already having started talks with Praet about extending his contract beyond 2015.
Should the young Belgian move to Old Trafford, he would compete for a place in the Manchester United midfield alongside the likes of Tom Cleverley and Michael Carrick, and could be recruited as a long-term replacement for Paul Scholes.
