Tottenham Hotspur have not made a bid for highly-rated French U21 international defender Massadio Haidara.

Andre Villas-Boas has been linked with a January move for the 20-year-old in recent weeks, but is reported to face competition from Fiorentina for the left-back’s signature.

Nancy sports director Eric Martin was happy to admit that there are a number of clubs interested in their player, but at this stage, no ‘concrete offers’ have been made for Haidara’s services.

"Fiorentina and Tottenham Hotspur chasing Haidara? There are many clubs interested in him, but for the moment we have not received concrete offers," Martin told calciomercato.com.

"I only know that the press have put out many declarations, but for now Massadio remains a Nancy player."

The Daily Mail reported at the end of last week that Aston Villa were close to securing the player’s services in a £2 million, but the Ligue 1 outfit now value Haidara in the region of £6.5 million.

If the defender were to join Spurs, he’d face competition from Benoit Assou-Ekotto and the versatile Jan Vertonghen for a place in the starting line-up at White Hart Lane.

He’d also join compatriot Hugo Lloris in north London, after the goalkeeper signed for Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day in the summer transfer window.
