Liverpool are reportedly considering making a January transfer window move to bring in West Brom striker Shane Long to partner Luis Suarez at Anfield.

The Reds are in desperate need of goalscoring reinforcements, and Long has emerged as the latest transfer target for Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

Suarez is the only senior striker currently available for Rodgers, and the acquisition of another striker will surely be a priority for Liverpool during the imminent transfer window.

According to the Daily Star, Liverpool are set to launch a £12 million bid for Long in January, and the West Brom star would reportedly jump at the chance to seal a switch to Anfield.

Long has seven goals for West Brom this season, and Liverpool boss Rodgers is reported to have a long-standing interest in the Republic of Ireland international having worked with him at Reading.

The 25-year-old would give Liverpool the option of operating with two central strikers, or Long could rotate with Suarez in order to relieve the goalscoring burden on the Uruguayan.

Liverpool's lack of strikers will come even more apparent for the trip to West Ham on Sunday, with Suarez suspended for the encounter after his fifth booking of the season.
