Gareth Bale admits Tottenham exit plans
Tottenham Hotspur transfer news: Gareth Bale has confirmed a desire to play abroad
Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale has revealed a desire to test his abilities away from White Hart Lane and the Premier League.
The Welsh winger was speaking after another impressive display in Spurs’ third successive league win at Fulham on Saturday.
Bale’s for has been the catalyst for Andre Villas-Boas’ side turning their form around following four successive defeats.
The 23-year-old is reportedly a long-term target for La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, but rumours of a possible move to Spain were dulled by the contract extension Bale signed in the summer, tying him down to the club until 2016.
However, Bale has given the biggest indication yet that he sees his future abroad and admitted he would think long and hard about any offers from clubs abroad.
“It would be nice to experience other leagues and other cultures,” he said after the win at Craven Cottage.
“I’m not afraid to go abroad. If the time comes and a team that’s right comes in for me, then I’ll look at it seriously. I’ll see what happens.”
Spurs fans will be disappointed to have such a big hint dropped over a possible exit for Bale, as he has been the talisman of this Tottenham side for some time, but especially so since Luka Modric’s switch to Real Madrid.
The Croatian international publicly stated a desire for his old team-mate to join him at the Santiago Bernabeu last week, which didn’t go down too well with Villas-Boas.
Daniel Levy is a shrewd mover in the transfer market and the length of time remaining on Bale’s contract strengthens his position greatly, meaning a fee in the region of Modric’s £30million would probably be needed to prise away the north Londoners’ most valuable asset.
