Chelsea transfer target Andre Schurrle will not be leaving Bayer Leverkusen in January, according to his father, but could move on at the end of the season.

Sky Sports reports the Germany international has a minimum fee release clause of €35m (£28.5m) that allows him to move on next summer if a club meets the fee in his contract.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for the forward, but Joachim Schurrle, Andre's father, has ruled out any move before the end of the season.

He told Express newspaper: "We have plenty of time left until the next summer.

"Until next summer, there is no reason to move. Moving clubs before the summer is not an issue. Andre very much likes being at Bayer Leverkusen.

"It's a successful team and the team plays really good football, too. We all simply have to wait and see."

Leverkusen sit second in the Bundesliga, behind Bayern Munich, and Schurrle has been instrumental in their strong start to the campaign.

Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez is without a win in his first three games, and with a misfiring Fernando Torres and an injury-prone Danny Sturridge, the new Blues manager could be tempted to dip into the transfer market in January.

Chelsea lodged a bid for the German forward in the summer according to the article, but were rebuffed, although, if the report is correct, a bid of €35m next summer would be enough to bring Schurrle to Stamford Bridge.
