Chelsea striker agent hits out at Liverpool transfer rumours
Chelsea and Liverpool transfer news: Daniel Sturridge's agent denies Liverpool 80k wage demands
Daniel Sturridge’s agent has moved to dismiss reports this morning suggesting the Chelsea striker was demanding £80,000-per-week and a guaranteed starting spot to move to Liverpool in the January transfer window.
Sturridge has struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge and has been linked with a move away for some time, with Liverpool seemingly at the front of the queue.
Liverpool reportedly came close to landing Sturridge on loan over the summer, but the deal collapsed at the last minute, although reports suggest boss Brendan Rodgers will be handed the funds to land him on a permanent deal over the summer.
Reports this morning claimed he was keen on a move to Anfield but had demanded a lucrative pay packet before agreeing a move, something his representatives have denied.
“Daniel Sturridge does not conduct his business in public," they said. He also does not make demands in any negotiation, with regards to salary or his playing position.
"Any contract between a club and a player has to be based on mutual agreement."
Boss Brendan Rodgers is in desperate need of more firepower in attack, a problem that was highlighted during Liverpool’s recent win over Southampton, where leading striker Luis Suarez picked up his 5th yellow card of the season, meaning he is suspended for their game against West Ham on Sunday.
Liverpool summer signing Fabio Borini is still injured, meaning Rodgers will be forced to rely untested options in attack for the game for the trip to Upton Park this weekend.
