Reading striker Adam Le Fondre reckons the Royals will survive this season if they play like they did against Manchester United on Saturday.

Le Fondre scored against the team he has supported since childhood as Brian McDermott's side finished the game on the wrong end of a 4-3 scoreline. All seven goals were scored in a manic 34-minute period in the first half, with the defeat leaving Reading 19th in the table and four points from safety.

But Le Fondre believes that if the players can replicate the performance that almost brought them a positive result against the leaders of the Barclays Premier League, then they will be able to rescue the current situation - starting against fellow strugglers Southampton this weekend. "I think we can take heart from the performance and take it into the coming games," he told the club's official website.
