Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has urged his players to quickly forget their Champions League troubles and focus on the upcoming challenges in the Premier League.

The Gunners fell to a 2-1 defeat against Olympiacos in Greece last night, finishing second in Group B and facing a difficult last 16 tie against a group winner in the competition.

That’s quickly been put to the back of Wenger’s mind however, and the players must now respond quickly ahead of West Bromwich Albion’s visit to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

“The important thing now is to focus on the Premier League and forget about the Champions League. [We need to] get ourselves back in decent form in the Premier League,” the Frenchman told the official Arsenal website post-match.

“We need a good Christmas present now [in the Champions League draw]. We’ll see.”

Wenger did find a few positives in the performance at the Karaiskakis Stadium, most notably in the performance of Tomas Rosicky, who came through 45 minutes unscathed.

The Czech Republic international came off the bench in the weekend defeat to Swansea City, but got a longer period of play under his belt against the Superleague Greece champions last night.

“He has not played for six months and we were cautious with him. We decided before the game to play for 45 minutes and see how he got on. He’s a bit tight, muscular, but no injury. We’ll see how we recovers now for Saturday,” added Wenger.

The Arsenal chief was also happy to heap praise on opposition striker Kostas Mitrglou post-match, after the forward bagged his second goal in as many matches against the north London outfit.

However, Wenger didn’t want to give too much attention to the player’s efforts, admitting he might be linked with a transfer move for the player if he said too much.

“Mitroglou scored two great goals. The first one in London was a great header and tonight was a fantastic goal as well, I must say. I won’t say more because if I do you’ll think I want to buy him,” concluded Wenger.
