Manchester City are closing in on Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi, according to reports in Italy.
City have long been linked with a move for the Italian international, and came close to landing their man before he opted to stay put in Rome.
However a bust-up with Roma boss Zdenek Zeman appears to have pushed him close to the exit and TalkSPORT report, quoting sources in Italy, that the midfielder has met Manchester City officials to open discussions over a potential move the Etihad Stadium.
It’s claimed that the 29-year-old reportedly flew to London recently to hold talks about a move, but is also open to a switch to Paris Saint-Germain, who are also believed to be keen on securing his services.
Roberto Mancini was left frustrated over the summer after missing out on a host of summer transfer targets, and could be ready to spend big in January after failing to emerge from the group stages of the Champions League for the second season running.
The Citizens rounded off their sorry campaign with defeat against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, meaning they finished with just three points – the lowest tally ever accumulated by an English side in the Champions League era.
