€10m Liverpool & Arsenal striker target set for Serie 'A' stay
Arsenal & Liverpool transfer news: Mauro Zarate set to stay at Lazio
The agent of Arsenal and Liverpool striker target Mauro Zarate has claimed that the player is set to stay at Lazio.
However, representative Luis Ruzzi insists his client is unlikely to move away from the Eternal City in the New Year, with a €10 million asking price likely to be the major stumbling block for any interested party.
"Mauro is not going to leave Italy, he will stay at Lazio," said Ruzzi, according to Sky Sports.
"Lazio want nearly €10 million for the transfer of Mauro, who is in contract until 2014, and it's not easy to find who wants to buy."
Liverpool have been linked with a number of strikers in recent weeks, with Brendan Rodgers tipped to make an addition in the position in January.
Injury to Fabio Borini and the loan exit of Andy Carroll have left Liverpool stretched in the position, but that could change in the New Year.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move for strikers in the transfer window, with Dutch international Klaas-Jan Huntelaar on the radar.
Olivier Giroud was signed in the summer transfer window as Robin Van Persie moved away from the Emirates Stadium, but options outside the Frenchman are few and far between for the Gunners.
And, with Arsenal languishing in mid-table in the Premier League table, it would be no surprise to see a striker addition in north London.
However, a move for Zarate now looks highly unlikely.
