Manchester United facing French fight over Sneijder

Published 8 Comments

Manchester United face competition from Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Dutch international Wesley Sneijder.

TalkSPORT cite French reports when claiming that the super-rich Ligue 1 outfit are eager to make the Inter Milan playmaker the next high-profile addition at the Parc des Princes.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva, Javier Pastore, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Gregory Van der Wiel are just five of the big names at manager Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal, although PSG are currently five-points behind Lyon at the top of the table.

Sneijder has not played for Inter since September, with a row over the player’s contract set to lead to an exit from the San Siro.

Sir Alex Ferguson is ‘a known admirer’ of the 90-cap Holland star, according to the radio station, and the Manchester United manger would be happy to find him a home at Old Trafford.

Sneijder has been close to joining the Red Devils before, almost moving to the Premier League in the summer of 2011 before an issue with personal terms put pay to any potential deal.

However, his situation in Italy appears to have opened the transfer door to interested parties once again, and the player would join compatriots Robin Van Persie and Alex Buttner at Manchester United if he made a January move.
