Blues fail in Koller bid

Published Add your comment

Alex McLeish has revealed Birmingham attempted to bring Czech Republic international Jan Koller to St Andrews.

McLeish thought the 6ft 7in striker would have brought an extra dimension to his attack and was viewed as an ideal replacement for Mikael Forssell, who moved to Bundesliga outfit Hannover in May.

"We did try for Jan Koller, we showed our ambition and intention there," McLeish confirmed in the Birmingham Mail. "But he chose a massive offer in Russia, which we couldn´t compete with."
