Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy has signed a new contract which will keep him at Craven Cottage until June 2009, the club have announced.

The 31-year-old has an option of a further year as the west-London club look to build on last year´s escape from relegation under Roy Hodgson.

The former Tottenham and Liverpool player played a pivotal part in the Cottagers´ fight against relegation and scored the goal in the final-day win against Portsmouth which saw the club escape the drop thanks to superior goal difference.
