Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has claimed his side are better than their rivals Manchester United, despite the 3-2 loss to them on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Daily Mail, Mancini was speaking at a function in Italy when the said the Citizens had a much better team and play better football than their rivals firm Old Trafford, though he did concede Sir Alex Ferguson’s side had the upper hand when it came to experience.

“United have more experience but we have a much better team and play much better football,” he is quoted as saying.

Manchester City came back from a 2-0 half time deficit at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, but ended up losing 3-2 thanks to a last minutes deflected Robin van Persie free-kick.

Defeat for Mancini’s side meant United secured their place at the top of the Premier League and City will now have to overhaul a deficit of six points if they are to defend their title.

City had managed to avoid defeat at the Etihad Stadium for 37 consecutive league games before the weekend’s loss and the report in the Daily Mail has also claimed there was a dressing room bust-up following the defeat.
