Bosnian keeper 'flattered' by Manchester United & Liverpool interest

Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has revealed he's 'flattered' by interest from Manchester United and Liverpool, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Bosnian international has emerged as a January transfer target for both Liverpool and Manchester United, and speculation has mounted that the Premier League pair could make offers for the shot-stopper in the New Year.

But, while Begovic has admitted he's flattered to be linked with the likes of Liverpool and United, he insists he's committed to Stoke.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Begovic said: "It's very flattering. It's positive feedback from other teams that people are looking at you and mentioning you with those teams.

"It's no secret that everyone has their own ambitions and they want to be playing at the highest level possible.

"But right now I'm just focused on taking Stoke forward and I think the club here has a lot of ambitions; the chairman, the manager and everyone else included.

"So we just want to keep pushing this club forwards and see how far we can take it."

The 25-year-old came through the Portsmouth academy and moved to Stoke in 2010 for a fee in the region of £3m. Since joining the Potters the 6ft 5in keeper has established himself as the club's number one, and cemented his reputation as one of the Premier League's finest keepers outside the top four.

Manchester United are reportedly considering a January bid for the shot-stopper, as neither David De Gea nor Anders Lindegaard have made the goalkeeping jersey their own at Old Trafford.

But Liverpool are also thought to be keen on Begovic, and Brendan Rodgers could sanction a bid to provide better competition for current Anfield number one Pepe Reina.
