Manchester United have made an enquiry over Dutch international midfielder Kevin Strootman, according to the player’s agent.
The 22-year-old PSV Eindhoven star has been linked with a move to Old Trafford on a number of occasions, with talkSPORT reporting last week that the Red Devils were set to do battle with AC Milan for the player’s £14 million signature.
Chiel Dekker has now confirmed the interest of Sir Alex Ferguson, telling the same radio station that Manchester United are amongst a number of big European clubs to make contact over the player’s services.
“All the top clubs in Europe know about Kevin, but a move to England next summer is his first priority and, yes, Manchester United and other big clubs in Europe have been in touch with me,” he told talkSPORT.
Dutch reports have claimed that Strootman could leave the Phillips Stadium in the January transfer window, although Dekker’s comments suggest a move at the end of the season is more likely.
Strootman would be following in the footsteps of Ruud Van Nistelrooy if he left PSV for Manchester United, whilst compatriots Robin Van Persie and Alex Buttner currently ply their trade at Old Trafford.
