Jeffren Suarez has moved to dismiss claims over interest from Liverpool in his services.
‘Agent’ Jorge Llagostera had claimed the Reds were one of a number of top English clubs monitoring the 24-year-old ex-Barcelona starlet's progress earlier in the week.
"Yes. Liverpool and other Premier League clubs are monitoring the kid. But, formally, we have still not received an offer to negotiate with Sporting," he told Antena 1, according to SkySports.
However, the player has denied having any relationship with Llagostera, insisting the apparent representative’s comments have ‘no value’ to his current situation.
“I want to clarify and say that this person (Jorge Llagostera) is not my representative, so these statements (in the media) have no value,” the player wrote on WhoSay.
Jeffren joined Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2011, moving to Portugal despite strong speculation over a move to Anfield.
Indeed, the former Spanish U21 international was happy to open up the possibility of moving to Merseyside last year, revealing he was ‘proud’ to be on the Liverpool radar.
"It makes me proud that teams like Liverpool are interested in me. We’ll see what happens," he told radio station Cadena Ser, according to Goal.com.
However, the winger missed a large part of his first season at the Estádio José Alvalade through injury, and is yet to show the form that had clubs interested in his services previously.
With that in mind, the revelation over Liverpool’s supposed interest is no surprise, as manager Brendan Rodgers has no track record of interest in the player.
