Top 10: Highest Paid Footballers

Published Add your comment

It's probably the most asked question in football - 'how much is player X on a week?' Usually the answer comes back as a preposterously high figure that makes the original enquirer scoff indignantly.

Well there was something of an answer to that question this week. A picture emerged this week of what appeared to be a pay slip for none other than Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez.

According to the slip - which could well be a fake - Tevez took home over £700,000 before tax in March 2010. After the tax man had delved into his pay packet and the FA had deducted a whopping £24 for a yellow card, the Argentinean was left with a frankly paltry £400,000 to live. Somebody lend him a few quid, those golf club membership fees don't pay for themselves.

But Tevez is on pennies compared to the highest earners from around the world, who are raking in the big bucks from the four corners of the earth.

New powers from China and Russia dominate the list, while the big players from the Premier League feature along with a couple of chaps called Messi and Ronaldo. But who is the best paid footballer on the planet? Have a gander below and find out....

10 - Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid - Earns: €10m/year

9 - Lionel Messi, Barcelona - Earns: €10.5m/year

8 - Dario Conca, Guangzhou Evergrande - Earns: €10.6m/year
