Brazil beat Argentina on penalties last night (3-3 on aggregate, 3-2 on penalties) to win the Superclasico de Las Americas, with Neymar scoring the winning spot-kick.

The Santos star banished his penalty demons with a cool finish after Argentina had finished the 90 minutes 2-1 ahead (3-3 on aggregate).

Neymar was left embarrassed a few weeks ago when he sent his spot-kick against Colombia up into the stratosphere, but he had no such problems this time around.

The match only involved players from South America, and Neymar scored a stoppage-time penalty winner in the first-leg back in September.

As a result, Mano Menezes' side went into the match with a 2-1 advantage, but rarely threatened in poor first-half.

The match failed to improve until the 82nd minute when Juan Martinez tumbled over in the box, and Ignacio Scocco stepped up to level the tie on aggregate.

But Brazil struck back almost instantly when Fred bundled in to make it 1-1, before Scocco bagged another to make it 3-3 on aggregate and take the game to penalties.

Argentina missed their first two attempts, allowing Brazil to race into a 2-0 lead, but a missed kick by the away team allowed the Argentinians to battle their way back to 2-2.

That set the stage for Neymar to seal the win with the final kick, and the Santos sensation did just that, sending the keeper the wrong way with a confident strike into the left hand corner.
