Arsenal v Montpellier: Predicted Line-ups

Published Add your comment

Arsenal are on the verge of qualifying for the knockout of the Champions League stages once more, with victory over Montpellier at the Emirates Stadium this evening potentially enough to carry them into the next round.

Having picked up only one point from their last two games in Europe, both against Schalke, the Gunners will be looking to get their form on the continent back on track.

Arsene Wenger’s men picked up a 2-1 victory over Montpellier in France in their first European game of the season thanks to goals from Lukas Podolski and Gervinho, and they'll be hoping for a similar outcome this time round.

The Gunners currently sit in second place in second place in Group B behind Schalke, who could help Arsenal progress with a win over Olympiakos tonight.

Theo Walcott has been ruled out of the game with a shoulder injury picked up in the 5-2 win over rivals Tottenham on Saturday and is unavailable.

However Kieran Gibbs and Ivory Coast forward Gervinho are available and have been included in Arsenal’s squad, but full-back Andre Santos is unavailable because of injury. Alex Oxlande-Chamberlain returned as a substitute against Tottenham but is unlikely to start.

Likely Arsenal line up to face Montpellier (4-2-3-1):

Wojciech Szczesny;  Keiran Gibbs, Thomas Vermalen, Per Mertesacker, Bacary Sagna; Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Lukas Podolski, Santi Cazorla; Olivier Giroud
