Manchester United are once again being linked with a move for Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman.
TalkSPORT claims the 22-year-old PSV Eindhoven star is a long-term target of Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson, with the Scot wanting to add the player at Old Trafford in the previous summer transfer window.
Instead, the club spent big on re-enforcing their attack, with Robin Van Persie drafted in to replace Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen for the Premier League runners-up.
Whilst Shinji Kagawa was signed to strengthen the Manchester United midfield, the club still miss a ball-winner at the heart of the side, and Strootman could be the answer for Ferguson.
The report also claims that AC Milan are interested in the player, and that whilst PSV do not want to sell the former Sparta Rotterdam starlet in January, they have already set their sights on a replacement in the shape of Elfsborg midfielder Oscar Hiljemark.
Manchester United believe they can land their 15-cap international target for around £14 million, according to the report, and Strootman would join compatriots Van Persie and Alex Buttner if he made the move in the New Year.
