River Plate ace Carlos Andres Sanchez is flattered by reported interest in him from Tottenham Hotspur, but revealed his childhood dream was to play for Manchester United, reports Sky Sports.

The 28-year-old Uruguayan winger has been earning rave reviews in Argentina since arriving in Buenos Aires in the summer of 2011, with his fine performances also attracting admiring glances from a number of Premier League clubs.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is believed to be keen to bring the South American star to White Hart Lane when the transfer window reopens in January, as he looks to strengthen his north London side's push for Champions League qualification.

"I heard the rumour about Tottenham," said Sanchez. "Immediately everyone started to send me messages and phoned me asking if it was true.

"I am very happy that a team like that is interested in me, we'll see in the future what happens."

However, Tottenham fans are unlikely to be happy about the player's admittance that he would prefer to play at Old Trafford under the tutelage of Manchester United's legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, even if that desire was established during his early years as a young boy.

"I once said that I had the dream of playing at Manchester United, but I am happy about the interest of Tottenham," he added.
