Manchester United star Nemanja Vidic has refused to rule out a move to Serie A and revealed he almost moved there in the past.

The Old Trafford club captain is set to return from a lengthy injury spell against in Saturday’s Premier League clash with Sunderland on Saturday, but his return could now be accompanied with an air of uncertainty over his long-term future.

The Serbian international only made five appearances this season before being forced to have surgery on his knee and missing the last two months.

Vidic had only just recovered from cruciate ligament damage he suffered just over a year ago in the loss to FC Basel that saw them crash out of last season’s Champions League – he was injured for the rest of the season.

Now Goal.com have reported that Italian champions Juventus have a long standing interest in the 31-year-old and Vidic did little to quell any speculation about a switch to Serie A.

“My future in Italy? Who knows? In the past I was close to Fiorentina and Parma,” he is quoted as saying in the report.

Sir Alex Ferguson will be relieved to have his skipper back, as Manchester United have been conceding a significant amount of goals so far this season and have only had their blushes spared the by potent attacking forces.
