Arsenal and Liverpool target Demba Ba has edged closer to an exit from Newcastle United following comments he made in an interview and the St James’ Park club closing in on a new striker signing.

Ba gave an interview with French broadcaster Canal +, in which he spoke of his admiration for Arsene Wenger’s side ands criticised Newcastle for thier style of play this season.

According to The Telegraph, Alan Pardew is close to completing the £11.4million signing of Marseille striker Loic Remy, which could eventually call time on Ba’s time with the Toon.

As well as Arsenal, Liverpool have been credited with an interest in the Senegal international as they look to reinforce a depleted striking department at Anfield.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has recently been linked with a double swoop for Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge and Blackpool’s Thomas Ince, which could mean the Gunners are given a free run to sign him.

The Telegraph report also claims Newcastle could fine Ba after he admitted a move to Emirates Stadium was an attractive proposition and bemoaned a lack of creativity in the side this season.

The 27-year-old has a £7.5million release clause in his contract, which would be a relatively cheap option for a proven Premier League goalscorer.
