Latics survival gives Bruce pride

Published Add your comment

Steve Bruce saw his Wigan side record only their second away win of the season against Aston Villa to emphatically ensure their Barclays Premier League survival, then admitted it was one of the finest moments of his management career.

At the start of the day the Latics needed three points to seal survival and although results elsewhere would have kept them up anyway, he was delighted his side did not need to rely on help from elsewhere.

Bruce explained: "I´m mighty proud of what I achieved at Birmingham but it´s never easy to come into a club (mid-season) and have an impact immediately."
