Dons claim maiden trophy win

Published Add your comment

MK Dons captain Keith Andrews´ second-half penalty and a header from Sean O´Hanlon saw off Grimsby 2-0 to give Paul Ince his first piece of silverware as a manager in the Johnstone´s Paint Trophy final at Wembley.

Andrews had missed two good chances to break the deadlock but kept his cool to steer in from the spot before O´Hanlon thumped a late header in to seal the win.

Ince´s men were the better side throughout but counterpart Alan Buckley was left to rue a penalty miss of his own when Danny Boshell´s first-half effort was saved by Willy Gueret.
