Nottingham Forest kept up the pressure up in the chase for an automatic promotion place with a 2-1 victory over Northampton in a bad tempered match at Sixfields.

Brett Ormerod put Forest ahead in the ninth minute when he latched on to Chris Cohen´s cross and smashed the ball home from close range.

The visitors lost defender James Perch in the 21st minute when he was sent off for violent conduct after a foul on Northampton striker Poul Hubertz.
