Paul Simpson has been appointed the new manager of Shrewsbury.

The former Preston and Carlisle boss has signed a three-year deal at the New Meadow to become Gary Peters´ replacement and will retain John McMahon, who guided the Shrews to two draws during his spell as caretaker boss, Stuart Delaney and Joe Hinnigan as part of his backroom staff.

Simpson, whose first game in charge is at Macclesfield this weekend, said: "I am very excited with the challenge that I now have with Shrewsbury Town."
