Southend have been given the go-ahead to build their new 22,000-seater stadium.

Chairman Ron Martin has hailed the decision as a "pivotal moment in Southend United´s history" after a public inquiry issued a positive response to the club´s plans to build the new stadium at Fossetts Farm.

Martin told the club´s official website: "It is with an enormous pleasure that I am able to confirm that the decision issued by the Secretary of State approved the club´s new stadium plans."
