Midfielder Mehdi Nafti has revealed the key role he is playing in Birmingham´s survival bid even though he is currently out of the starting line-up - as an interpreter.

Since the departure of multi-lingual former assistant manager Eric Black to Wigan Nafti has adopted the role of interpreter helping players such as Argentinian striker Mauro Zarate settle into the club through his ability to speak four different languages.

He said: "Eric Black´s departure had an effect on me because now I have to translate all the time. For example, Olivier Kapo´s English is as bad as when he first came here."
