Sunderland´s Barclays Premier League woes were compounded by an early exit from the FA Cup as Wigan boss Steve Bruce got the better of former Manchester United team-mate Roy Keane via a 3-0 victory.
Paul Scharner´s 19th-minute header opened the scoring for the visitors, who doubled their lead courtesy of Paul McShane´s own goal 11 minutes after the break.
Substitute David Cotterill rounded off the win with the goal of the game 14 minutes from time on an afternoon when Bruce´s men were comfortable winners.
