A goal in each half from Benni McCarthy helped Blackburn record their fifth straight victory with a 4-2 win over Premier League rivals Reading at Ewood Park.

McCarthy opening the scoring after 17 minutes from close range before strike partner Roque Santa Cruz and a Tugay long-range effort put Rovers three ahead within barely half an hour.

The home side sat back in the second half but another McCarthy goal sandwiched between two headers from Royals substitute Kevin Doyle was enough to seal a comfortable victory.
