Mali players Frederic Kanoute and Mamady Sidibe of Stoke City were both injured during crowd disturbances following their 2-0 win away to Togo in an African Nations Cup match, L´Equipe has reported.

Neither player is in a serious condition but Sidibe and former Tottenham and West Ham favourite Kanoute - now with Sevilla - both needed medical treatment, according to the paper, after Togo supporters attacked Mali´s fans and players in Lome.

Mali coach Jean-Francois Jodar told L´Equipe: "Mamadi Sidibe took a blow, doubtless with a weapon, which caused bruising to his arm. Frederic Kanoute was hit with a belt. It was like a battlefield. There was blood everywhere in the dressing room."
