Cole sweating on scan results

Ashley Cole has had a scan on his injured ankle and faces an anxious wait to see if he will be ruled out of England´s European Championship qualifier in Russia on Wednesday.

The Arsenal left-back was carried off on a stretcher early in the second half of the 3-0 win over Estonia, with victory at Wembley meaning England will qualify for Euro 2008 if they win in Moscow.

"He rocked his ankle blocking a shot," said England boss Steve McClaren. "It doesn´t look good but injuries can settle down in 24 hours and it is a critical period. We´ll know more on Sunday evening when we reassemble. They have X-ray machines here so we´re waiting for the results."
