Gunners edge five-goal thriller

Published Add your comment

Arsenal moved back to the top of the Barclays Premier League after beating Sunderland 3-2 at Emirates Stadium to record a 10th straight win in all competitions.

The hosts had raced ahead through a brilliant free-kick from Robin van Persie and Philippe Senderos´ close-range effort. However, Sunderland pulled a goal back through Ross Wallace.

The visitors were level after the break when Kenwyne Jones headed in - only for Van Persie to grab victory 10 minutes from time. Sunderland defender Paul McShane was sent off in stoppage time for clattering into Alexander Hleb.
