Aston Villa manager Martin O´Neill wants Ireland international Stephen O´Halloran to sign a new long-term contract.

O´Neill revealed talks have already been held with left-back O´Halloran´s agent about a new deal. The 20-year-old has yet to make his Villa debut but is highly rated by O´Neill and was part of the Wycombe side which reached the semi-finals of the Carling Cup last season during a loan spell.

O´Neill, who is also holding contract talks with Olof Mellberg and Luke Moore, admitted: "Stephen is another one I´d like to agree a new deal with. I´m in discussion with his agent about that at the moment and we hope we can do something."
