Benitez tells of Torres poser

Published Add your comment

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez insists he is far from certain he will pick striker Fernando Torres for Saturday´s Barclays Premier League clash with Wigan despite the Spaniard´s midweek hat-trick in the Carling Cup.

Benitez says the need to protect star players such as Torres outweighs the desire to play him in every match, particularly when he has so many quality alternatives at his disposal.

Benitez said: "I don´t know if Torres will start against Wigan. Everybody is talking about Torres because he scored three goals but as a manager you have to make the decisions."
