Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas has the highest market value of any goalkeeper in the world, beating the likes of Manuel Neuer and Joe Hart into first position.

Casillas has been named the FIFA/FIFPro Best Goalkeeper in the World in the past four consecutive years, and is surely the leading candidate to receive the accolade once again in 2012.

According to data Transfermarkt, Casilla's position as the top player in his position makes the Real Madrid superstar the most highly valued 'keeper on the planet, with Casillas worth £31 million.

It is a staggering price-tag on a player in his 30s but, if Casillas remains fit, the Spain captain can surely remain at the top level with Real Madrid for another five years at the very least.

Manuel Neuer, who is the second most expensive goalkeeper ever in terms of transfer fee paid (£19 million), has seen his value increase since swapping Schalke for Bayern Munich.

The 26-year-old Germany international now has a market value of £26 million, which will no doubt have something to do with his 13 consecutive shut-outs at the start of last season.

Petr Cech's heroics in Munich - where the opposition 'keeper was Neuer - helped capture the Champions League for Chelsea, and the 30-year-old has a market value of £22 million.

The Czech Republic international has enjoyed eight years as Chelsea's No.1 and has established himself as one of the finest goalkeepers the Premier League has ever seen.

In fourth position is the Premier League's next superstar goalkeeper, Joe Hart, with the Manchester City and England custodian now worth £20.5 million.

The 25-year-old joined Manchester City for less than £1 million from Shrewsbury Town, and his solid foundation allowed the Citizens to build towards the league title last season.

Victor Valdes, a veteran of 480 appearances for Barcelona, is rated at £16 million by Transfermarkt and continues to remain the undoubted first choice at the Camp Nou.
