Manchester United are lining up a summer bid for Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera, according to reports in South America.

TalkSPORT recalls how the 22-year-old Pachuca star - who is rated at around £9million - is attracting attention from a host of European clubs with FC Porto and an unnamed Ligue 1 side courting the player's signature.

Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson was linked with a move for Herrera last summer, after his fine performances for Mexico in their victorious London 2012 Olympic campaign.

Pachuca president Jesus Martinez has admitted that the club will struggle to keep hold of their star player beyond the end of 2012/13, with a switch to Old Trafford still potentially in the offing.

"There is nothing concrete on the table but there are some attractive offers," he told Esto newspaper. "It's not just Porto either, there is also an English and a French club who are interested.

"We only want him to leave in June if it is a good deal."

A move to Manchester United would of course see Herrera reunited with international team-mate Javier Hernandez, who has established himself as a true fans' favourite during his time with the Premier League giants.
