Chelsea have been told to cough up £30million if they want to sign Corinthians striker Paolo Guerrero next month, reports the Daily Star.

The 28-year-old Peruvian international only cost the Club World Cup champions one-tenth of that price, when he moved to Brazil from Hamburg in a £3million deal in July, after an unspectacular spell with Bayern Munich.

However, Guerrero's asking price has skyrocketed after he netted the winning goal against Chelsea in the FIFA tournament final in Japan earlier this month.

Rafa Benitez is already believed to have opened negotiations with Corinthians about bringing the player to Stamford Bridge in the New Year, though the Blues will face competition for his signature from Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Fiorentina, who are also monitoring his situation.

Guerrero is under contract with Corinthians until 2015, so the club are in a strong position when it comes to negotiating his potential sale, which is the reason why they are reportedly asking for such an extravagant fee, for a player they are ultimately reluctant to sell.
