Italian giants to beat Manchester United & Arsenal to Dutch star

Published 1 Comments

Manchester United and Arsenal may miss out on signing Dutch midfield sensation Kevin Strootman after AC Milan moved ahead of them in the race to sign him.

According to The Express, the Serie A side have made a decisive step in securing the Dutch international’s transfer from his club PSV Eindhoven.

It also claims both Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to sign the 22-year-old central midfielder.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United have been accused of lacking something in the centre of the park and Strootman’s high-energy physical style was seen as ideal for either Old Trafford or Emirates Stadium.

But the report claims a deal for him to move to San Siro cpould be concluded in weeks and a price of £6.5million being agreed.

Ferguson had previously ruled out making any moves in the transfer window, but Strootman is a prodigious talent and may have persuaded the Scort to change his mind.

Meanwhile, the injury travails experienced by Abou Diaby mean a player in the style of Strootman could have been a very useful addition to the Arsenal squad.
