Burnley manager Steve Cotterill celebrated his side´s opening-day victory over West Brom by announcing the imminent signing of veteran defender David Unsworth.

The 33-year-old scored the goal which kept Wigan in the Barclays Premiership on the final day of last season, and will join the Clarets on a free transfer.

The Turf Moor boss said: ´´He is going to sign for a year and we are very pleased with that. We have been light in that area throughout pre-season and he will bring great experience and great strength to our back four."
