Villas-Boas: Tottenham won't sign players in January
Tottenham transfer news: Andre Villas-Boas predicts quiet transfer window
Andre Villas-Boas insists Tottenham do not need to sign any new players in the January transfer window despite his side's 0-0 stalemate with Stoke yesterday.
Spurs failed to break down Stoke's resolute defence yesterday, prompting claims the north London side are lacking enough guile in attack following the summer departures of Luka Modric and Rafael Van der Vaart.
Tottenham have been linked with moves for numerous players in recent weeks, including Shakhtar Donetsk forward Willian and Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen.
Villas-Boas has previously insisted Tottenham will have a quiet winter window, and reiterated once more after the draw against Stoke than he doesn't need any new players to help challenge for a top four spot.
“I don’t think we need to do anything,” the Portuguese coach said. “We have Clint out. He is a massive player for us. He has had a big impact. He scored 17 goals last season so we have to count on him.
“He plays striker, plays wings and plays through the middle so he gives us that option. [Andros] Townsend the other day had a good game. We had opted for Gylfi Sigurdsson coming in [against Stoke] but I think we have options.
Spurs will have the chance to bounce back quickly from Saturday's draw at White Hart Lane with a Boxing Day trip to Aston Villa.
